Deepwater Stalking! - Philippe Carrier

Nice footage of some deepwater stalking by Philippe Carrier. You will also notice the use of a weighted pendulum system in the beginning of the clip. He is pulling up the heavily weighted belt that is attached to a float line. He will drop to depth and then release the belt. This allows him to reach much greater depths very rapidly, in turn allowing for greater bottom time.

This is amazing! He drops to a little over 40m and hunts, and finds success! They are using a weighted “pendulum” system of diving. You will notice that the diver is very heavily weighted and that his belt is connected to a float line. Before ascending the diver drops his belt, which is later retrieved from the surface via the float line. Fishing around 40m… very impressive!!!

Grouper gets away at 30m… or does it?

While fishing in a competition Dimitri shoots a beautiful grouper at around 30m (100ft). The shot was taken at just under 1min 20s into the dive, but as he starts to make his way for the surface he notices that the prize fish breaks loose from the spear. He’s not letting this one get away… he darts after the fish, grasps it in his hands, and starts ripping for the surface! He earned that fish!!

Here’s one for you! How would you like meeting up with an Orca while out spearfishing!? You will see the “Killer Whale” come in and check the close divers out and then move on to the next guy who freaks out and starts treading water. That would be quite a site!
